2.5.0 Finally Here
I am very pleased to announce that our fourth major version of the Version Updater Software is up and running! The transition to the new version went smooth with very few problems. We have been tweaking it here and there to get all the pieces to fit together, but I can now announce that everything is done. What is new?
Very early this year we announced the new version and some features which we hoped should be inside upon release. We manage to do most of it, but our limited timeframe prevented us from completing everything we promised and had to call them back and save them for a later version.
The biggest thing with the whole new version of the Version Updater is the brand new Version Checker which we had been working on and to integrate it a 100%. It required many hours to make the new Version Checker work by itself and even more to make it work seamlessly with the current system. We had to be sure that we could still use the old Version Checker and the new one without running into problems, and we made it! The two versions of the Version Checker are running side by side without any problems.
The new Version Checker uses JavaScript to check for new versions which is really cool. So why is this so good? Well, first of all it will no longer slow down the server load because all code is handled by the browser and secondly it will no longer throw out an error if certain functions are disabled on the server or the Version Server could not be reached. The new checker only requires 5 lines of code inside the project you want to check new versions for and that it, no other files what so ever. We think it is really going to change things!

What is next?
We have already begun working on the next version of the Version Updater, it is not quite as big as this one but it definitely has some interesting new functions which I will talk more about on a later occasion. We have scheduled the new version for 1st of Mars, nothing is certain and there might be some delays in the development.
We will keep you all posted here in our blog!
