Our host has finally upgraded to PHP 5.3 which meant we had to upgrade this site to PHP-Fusion v7.00.07. It vent very smoothly without any problems or hiccups at all. We are proud to say that we are running the version server on an unmodified version of PHP-Fusion which allows us to stay up to date with the latest release of PHP-Fusion. The reason we did not upgrade was because PHP-Fusion v7.00.06 and v7.00.07 were both updates to fix problems with PHP 5.3 and PHP 6 and we did not need to upgrade.

But we have completed it now and we will upgrade to PHP-Fusion v7.01 as soon as it has been released!

After we moved to the new server I forgot that some of the files updates files for some of my projects were located at my old development site dev.starefossen.com which is now removed. I have corrected all the download links and all updates are available from files2.starefossen.com.

I am terrible sorry for the trouble this might have caused for your all but everything should be working correctly now. If you have tried downloading an update and got a 404 (page does not exist error) is suggest you try downloading the update again.

The Version Server will go down soon. We are moving it to another server as this one is too expensive and we kind of don't earn anything on this project. I hope get it up on the same domain with as little as possible downtime but I cannot promise anything.

We might be down for good if things do not work out. We have another server ready but the problem is getting the transition as smooth as possible.

Update: And we are now officially back; fully working on a new server!

I am very pleased to announce that our fourth major version of the Version Updater Software is up and running! The transition to the new version went smooth with very few problems. We have been tweaking it here and there to get all the pieces to fit together, but I can now announce that everything is done.

The next version of our Version Updater Software is coming soon, and if we are lucky it will be within the end of this month but I con not guarantee anything at this time.

Much of the software has been rewritten to boost the performance and maximum the security. Our goal is to make version updating as easy and secure as possible and by the next version!

I wont spoil all the fun by revealing our well kept secrets but some of the key features coming up in next version is QuestBack, improved Statistics and a brand new version of the Version Checker!

We had some hours downtime on the 3rd of January 2009, because we were upgrading our system to the most recent version of PHP-Fusion along with applying some other security enhancements to the site!

We have a new newsticker working here at this site. The PHP-Fusion version is made by me but the source code of this very good looking newsticker is made by texotela.

This is not a usual newsticker, as it fades out and and in the latest 5 news headlines. It uses jQuery to fade news items out and in. Really simpel and really powerful.

This wil be public available as soon as the new MOD Data Base at PHP-Fusion MODs & Infusion is finished and starts taking in new MODs & Infusions again.

As the the subject says, I’m putting Flyingduck in charge for the whole Starefossen Foundation in my absent. I'll be away for ten days if everything goes after the plan, if not, he will remain the highest in command until my return. If anybody wonders where I will be going I can tell you that I am going to Ethiopia in Africa which some guys and girls from my school. If you thought they had internet down there, think again, they don’t.

Flyingduck is admin at most of the Main Support Sites, assistant team leader of PHP-Fusion MODs & Infusions Team, PHP-Fusion Crew and PHP-Fusion Dev member. With other words, I can pretty much guarantee you all that the site is in the best hands and I trust Flyingduck with my life on this task!

Finally, the Version Updater 2.0.0. Introducing brand new technology combined with old ideas makes the Version Updated go to another level. By modularised the whole system also making it template based we were able to speed up the development of this new version with several days.

So what’s the big change in this new version?

Most of the core, which dates back from some of the earliest version of the Version Updater and PHP-Fusion v6 has been rewritten in order to implement modules and the new templates we have used.

I won't reveal to much about the construction of the modules, they are documented in the VU Module API if the Version Updater one day is released, but what I can tell you is that modules has four areas: Admin Area, Project Management, Profile Panel, and Profile Pages.

You may recognise the Features and Change Log modules from the early previews I posted here not log ago. They were not intended to be modules than but to give us the freedom we wanted to develop the Version Updater we need to make them so, and we are very happy with the result.

No we have some more exciting stuff for you too! Projects are now public available, however, only if the author of the project has not chosen to hide the project from the public view. We here at the Version Server Management Team is very concerned with our developers privacy and we will do everything within our power to secure projects and make them as private as you want them to be.

You can view the public projects here, note that everything is still not finished we are working on the last details as we speak.

Another handy feature for Project Management is a complete reference over features which the project contains. We have taken the step forward and we are bringing you a complete feature tool which you can use to list up all features your project contains.

It is easy and will save you lots of time making lists with features or answering questions from uses who wonders if this or that is included. If you choose to have it public avwailable you can just link to it and anybody who want to know can click their way to it.

The image attached is an early development version and the final thing might look way different, but you get the idea. I might use the same look on this as the feature comparison I made for the official PHP-Fusion siste with some nice jQuery effects ;)

We have a new feature and new Project Management tool ready for the next version. It is as simple as a changelog and will display all changes for all versions of your projects.

It works seamlessly with the rest of the Version Updater and you all versions are already defined, you just enter the change and select the right version and your up. You will get the option to hide or show the changelog for users who are viewing the project.
